Birthday Boy

Friday we celebrated Grayer turning 1! We had a small party with just family here at our house. When I think of our lives just one short year ago, much has changed with the addition of another child. Grayer has brought so much joy and laughter into our family. The best thing is watching him and Sophia play together. Here's a quick rundown of what Grayer's been up to lately:
  • he is a cruising machine, going all along the furniture; still prefers crawling as his fastest way to get around though
  • he can take a few steps behind a push toy
  • he says "mama", "uh-oh", and "eyo" for hello when he puts the phone or other toy up to his ear - that one is pretty darn funny
  • he can sign "more" when he wants more food
  • he's eating mostly table food at this point, as he is boycotting all things from a spoon
  • he is still sleeping through the night - woo hooo!!!! hopefully we will never go back to those sleepless nights
  • he can clap and play patty-cake, and he covers his eyes to play peek-a-boo when we say "where's Grayer?"

Grayer chowed down on his first taste of cake. He was into it for about 5 minutes, then started crying and pushing it away. I'm not sure at this point if he is really Sean's child......ha ha ha! Just kidding, but he doesn't seem to have the sweet tooth like his daddy.

Nana got him this cozy coupe car, which has been completely taken over by big sister. We have to do some serious referee-ing (is that a word?) when the car is out. We've had to set the timer for turn-taking because they both want in it so bad. It's a pretty fun toy!

Doesn't he look like he's totally reading the box? This was a split second picture before he yanked the baseball cap off.

We had a baseball themed party, and I made the cupcakes and homeplate cake.

Sean has been waiting for Grayer to turn 1 so he can throw him into the air and let go. It's like a rite of passage or something for our kids. As you can see, he loved it. Couldn't get enough of it. I'm not sure why it's supposedly safe at one and not before (is their neck really that much stronger at 1 year than 11months?), but we heard that somewhere down the line and that's what we've always followed.
