We kicked off fall with an apple picking trip up near Queen, about an hour away from here. There's a fantastic farm that's owned by a local family, and they let us in to pick apples! There were TONS of them....the branches were so low to the ground just weighted down with ripe apples. We brought back more apples than we'll be able to use, but it sure was fun!
Sophia was wearing her little skinny jean leggings. They are so so cute on her. We each took a reusable grocery bag and filled them up with apples. And filled them up again. and again. and again!
Eating one straight from the tree! We picked green and red apples. Both varieties are really good. I've already cooked cinnamon apples and frozen lots of bags for later.
Four generations of Dunagans....Grayer Thomas, Sean, Ed Dunagan (Grandfather Ed), and George (Poppie)
We made some caramel apples a few nights later. And then Sophia wouldn't even eat one! Crazy girl...she doesn't know what she's missing!
Then last week was Homecoming Week for Carlsbad. I think I posted it last year how Homecoming is a big deal here. It's lots of fun and very celebrated all week long. Friday I took Sophia to the Homecoming Pep Rally at the high school to see the crowning of Homecoming King and Queen, and then we went to the parade, followed by the big game. Cavemen killed the competition!!
Waiting for the parade to start, the girls decided to try "stunting" like Shelby! Ha ha....it was entertaining for sure.
The band stopped right in front of us and played for awhile. Sophia covered her ears the whole time. Grayer just sat fascinated.
We really got into the spirit of things by painting faces! Midway through the game it was all smudged, but it was fun while it lasted.
